ART+TECHture:::Series:::

At TRPinc., we like to keep ourselves at the forefront of technology.  This helps us to create innovative design solutions tailored to the needs of our clients. However, in some aspects of our work there are no better tools for problem solving than pen and paper.

Sure you’ve seen our project cut-sheets with pictures of finished buildings, but how do we arrive at the design choices that make up our work? How do our ideas become reality? How do we walk the fine line between creating both aesthetically pleasing and technologically sound environments?

ART+TECHture, our latest blog series, will show you a part of TRPinc. never seen before; our sketch pads. With products and building materials improving at the speed of imagination and architectural design constantly pushing the envelope it seems that within each design problem is a set of new ones.  Sketches help us to work through these problems and produce a solution that in many cases not only works, technically, but is aesthetically pleasing at the same time.

With the keyboard and mouse taking over as the primary tools in a modern architectural office some may argue that the art of architectural drafting and design sketching is lost. We wholeheartedly disagree.  We believe that if there were any place this art may still reside, it would be in our sketches.  Within these sketches are an immeasurable amount of creativity and ideas, some fully develop while others continue to resonate in our minds until they have ripened and are harvested. As creative minds, we must admit sometimes feeling lost without a pen and paper to express an idea. It is not uncommon to find stacks of paper, post-its, and trace riddled with drawings around our office.

So, instead of throwing all of these masterpieces away we have decided to share them with you. We hope you enjoy…
